This statement bamboo bag brings together some of Japan’s most distinctive materials and craftsmanship in one bold, contemporary design.

The front features a powerful monochrome DARUMA motif, intricately embroidered over deep black washi tatami.

The silver, white, and black embroidery creates a striking contrast against the subtle texture of the tatami, giving the traditional DARUMA motif a modern and sophisticated presence.

In Japan, DARUMA is widely associated with perseverance, resilience, and the determination to achieve one’s goals.

The side panels are crafted from richly patterned Nishijin textile from Kyoto, adding depth, color, and an elegant contrast to the monochrome front.

The interior is also finished with Nishijin textile and features one practical interior pocket, allowing the beauty of traditional Kyoto craftsmanship to be enjoyed each time the bag is opened.

The reverse side offers an entirely different character.

A thinly sliced sheet of natural walnut wood is carefully finished with urushi lacquer from the Tamba region of Kyoto.

The urushi enhances the natural grain of the walnut, creating a rich depth, warmth, and subtle luster. Depending on the light and viewing angle, the surface reveals changing tones and expressions unique to natural wood and lacquer.

The natural bamboo handles complete the design, bringing together embroidery, washi tatami, Nishijin textile, walnut, urushi, and bamboo in one distinctive piece.

About the Materials

Care Instructions

• Please avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, excessive heat, and high humidity.
• Avoid contact with water or rain. If the bag becomes wet, gently blot away moisture with a soft, dry cloth and allow it to air-dry naturally in a well-ventilated area.
• Do not use alcohol, solvents, chemical cleaners, or abrasive products on the urushi-lacquered walnut surface.
• Avoid strong impacts, excessive pressure, and contact with sharp objects, as these may damage the walnut, lacquer, embroidery, tatami, or textile.
• Please take care to prevent snagging or excessive friction on the embroidered and Nishijin textile surfaces.
• Natural bamboo and walnut may gradually change in color and appearance over time. These changes are part of the character of natural materials.
• When not in use, store the bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
